Asiatic Lions

The Asiatic lion, also known as the Indian lion and Persian lion,Sasan Gir Santuary is the last and only home of the endangered mighty Asiatic Lion, Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most popular attractions of Gujarat. Asiatic lions once prowled from the Middle East to India. Now, only a fraction of these magnificent animals survive in the wild. The Gir Forest's dry teak woods were once a royal hunting ground. Today they are a reserve where these at-risk big cats are heavily protected.

Leopard

Leopard is considered to be one of the most beautiful and graceful animals in the jungle, also the most dangerous one. Popularity known as the prince of cats. You can identify most leopards by their light color and distinctive dark spots. Those spots are called rosettes, because they resemble the shape of a rose. These patterns camouflage their bodies as they move through the grass and trees. This animal is the most adaptable from the family of predators, one the reason why it occupies a much larger spread of Gujarat forest covers, and Sasan Gir National park it has been found in all the varied habitats and vegetations types. The approximate population of 210 Leopards resides within the sanctuary area.

Birds

The exotic flora of Gir National Park gives shelter to more than 200 species of birds and moreover the sanctuary has been declared an important bird area by the Indian Bird Conservation Network. Gir is also habitat of raptors like critically endangered white-backed and long-billed vultures.

Reptiles

Gir is blessed with more than 40 species of reptiles and amphibians. Kamleshwar - a large reservoir in the sanctuary is the best spot where Marsh Crocodile can be seen in large numbers. Park has even many species of snake including King Kobra, the Russell's viper, Saw-scaled viper and the Krait.
